In actuality, this page should be titled: ABOUT YOU. Hull's remains a resource for a cross section of people from students, to professionals and everyone in between.
Hull's Art Supply & Framing has enjoyed a unique opportunity to support, serve and encourage a community of people, who want something more than the limited, typical big box store selection. You'll find that Hull's is not the typical retail outlet; we live and practice what we believe about the value of art and creativity. Providing a full range of supplies, products, creative gifts, frames, and custom framing is our business.
Hull's is a team of professionals dedicated to developing relationships with customers and who provide practical and creative solutions. We take the time to answer questions about products and share practical information on what supplies and equipment will best serve the need. What we hear so often from customers is the high level of service, time and support they receive from our team. This is the fundamental reason we have remained in a leadership position in our category of business. Here are few typical customer responses found online and unsolicited:
"The prices are completely reasonable. I thought it'd be more expensive going to a frame shop or a big box craft store, but thankfully I was wrong!"
-Advocate Best of New Haven Readers' Poll
"Hull's is a local gold mine for supplies and advice."
-Best of New Haven Living
"The people that work here are really knowledgeable."
-Best of Connecticut by Connecticut Magazine
"When I think of service, I think of Hull's."
-Elm City's Best
We continue to win over our customers' satisfaction, and win awards for our service and selection.
As the team at Hull's carry out our mission of providing "Tools for the Imagination
" come in and discover that the "Art Store" is no longer the exclusive domain of college students and professional artists; it is now a resource for creative minds of all ages and abilities. It's a place to find unique products not available elsewhere. Our inventory serves much more than the artist's interests alone. Stop in and browse, we'd love to treat you to the same level of personal service that you would have received from Harry Hull over 65 years ago. Located in the heart of New Haven adjacent to Yale University, we take pride in having decades of service to the community. Throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's art supplies filled the void left by the trains, planes, rockets and slot cars overlooked by today's generation of computer gamers. As Hull's became increasingly popular with art students as well as casual and professional artists, a demand for picture framing emerged.
In 1999 Hull's was purchased by current owner Steve Kovel, and in order to more accurately reflect its modern incarnation he renamed it Hull's Art Supply & Framing. Later that year, Steve moved the business one block east into a former derelict building that he purchased and thoroughly renovated, effectively tripling the original selling space.
